As part of the "Gente de Nação Hebrea" documents related to New Christian fugitives in the early 1600s (see my post on that here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheSepardicDiaspora/posts/3467247986868151/), there is a letter from the town of Mértola that mentions the Bom Dia family, including one fascinating character, Frei Martinho, born ca. 1573, which appears to have been a very well-connected spy and a pioneer of the Jewish community in Rouen.
