THE ANCESTRY OF JUAN ÁLVAREZ MENDIZÁBAL (1790-1853)Juan Álvarez Mendizábal (Spanish Wikipedia: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_%C3%81lvarez_Mendiz%C3%A1bal) was a major figure of Spanish politics in the first half of the 19th century. From some information I found online, it looks like he was descended from Converso lines, a fact that he tried to disguise.Apparently a book was published on his ancestry in 2003, but it is out of print: https://www.dipucadiz.es/publicaciones/catalogo/Un-laberinto-genealogico/Geneall has some info on his ancestry (https://geneall.net/pt/antepassados/467823/juan-alvarez-mendizabal/), listing the following names (Ahnentafel numbering):2 - Rafael Alvarez Montañes, 1758-18483 - Margarita Mendez Cardenas, 1765-18464 - Juan Antonio Alvarez Neto, 1722-18175 - Blanca Montañes Torres, 1725-17966 - Gabriel Méndez Montañés, 1739-18067 - Beatriz Cárdenas Fernández, 1734-18088 - Lorenzo Alvarez Neto, 1703-17799 - Maria Henriques Gago, 1702-177812 - José Mendes da Silva, 1707-13 - Margarita Montanés Torres, 1718-Does anyone have any additional info? Some of these names definitely look related to people I've found. In particular the Neto family should be one from Beja, Portugal, with family ties to people from Braganza, and the Torres Montañes should be the same that are connected with some of the Pereiras of Chacim / Pastrana.
