THE PORTUGUESE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2026: OUTGOING PRESIDENT AND ONE OF THE CANDIDATES HAVE COMMON SEPHARDIC ANCESTRY The Portuguese newspaper Observador has partnered with the Portuguese Genealogical Association to do genealogical studies on the 8 main candidates to the Portuguese presidential election which will take place in early 2026. The fourth of those studied, about candidate Catarina Martins, has just been published, showing that she is a distant relative of outgoing President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and that their common ancetry is of Sephardic conversos from northeast Portugal.
