During my visit in Rhodes I explored the old town and interviewed some locals (shop owners). In this photo a shop owner told me that the building on the right belonged to the Alhadeffs and it was a huge shop selling fabrics. The building on the left was a pub where the Jewish youngsters used to go for a drink. Is there anyone here that can confirm this? Which Alhadeff family owned the shop?In the book by Rebecca Amato Levy she mentions on page 32 the largest department store and the only one of its kind belonging to Solomon Alhadeff.I wonder if this is the store. This old man who is Muslim also told me that he remembers his father telling him that he saved 4 Jews from the Nazi’s. Who knows if this is true, but was interesting to hear. The old man is with the red shirt.
