I looked for gravestones in Hamburg and found out that some were burried in ashkenazim tradition but other SPANIER on the second cemetery were burried on the sephardic area. The earliest SPANIER in Hamburg is the name Moses SPANIER born 1550 in Hamburg . The german book author Dagmar Nick is a descendent in maternal line.Is it possible that the family SPANIER were ashkenazim from Spain ?
