Qui étaient leurs parents ?" Pendant tout le repas, les questions fusaient. Après les grands-parents, c’était au tour des oncles et tantes. Bizarrement, ces questions portaient essentiellement sur les aïeuls de mon ami(e) embarrassé(e) et très peu sur ses propres parents ! Je savais que cela cesserait quand mes parents auraient trouvé Le lien. Alors, nous pourrions échanger tranquillement mes amis et moi pendant qu’eux commenteraient leur trouvaille. « Son arrière-grand-mère paternelle est Mazal la cousine germaine de mon grand-père Abraham » disait mon père. Et ma mère de rajouter « Oui, mais sa grand-mère maternelle est Freha, la cousine germaine de la mère de Messodie, la mère du demi-frère de ma mère ». Ils allaient jusqu’à poursuivre leurs débats quand mes amis étaient partis. Je les écoutais alors d’une oreille distraite.Bien plus tard, j’ai fait un test ADN et je me suis retrouvée avec des centaines, voire des milliers, de cousins génétiques avec lesquels je n’ai aucune idée, aucun indice, sur la façon dont je leur suis apparentée à eux. Mes parents ne sont plus là pour refaire l’exercice et rétablir ce lien. C’est cette quête du lien qui m’a amenée à faire de la généalogie.Geni est beaucoup moins efficace que mes parents (malheureusement tout le monde n’est pas sur Geni), mais j’ai essayé.
