Hello all, I'm hoping you can help me please. My ancestors, the Shannon family, were part of the Bevis Marks Spanish and Portuguese congregation in London in the 18th and 19th Centuries. The earliest known ancestor, Meshod/Masoud Shannon (Ben Shannon or Shanon), is documented as coming from Tetouan/Berbery Coast (born c.1723) before migrating to Gibraltar. Meshod arrived in London c.1780. Other Shannons ware documented in Jamaica. I have seen records of Shanon/Shannon names in Mogador/Essouira cemeteries too. Does anybody have any information about the Shannon family - what their original name was or where they came from in Spain or Portugal? Or even later in Morocco? I appreciate your help. Thank you.
