It is my understanding, from stories related to by my mother, that in 1907, after the murder of the French Doctor Mauchamp, my family left Marrakech for Safi. Apparently there was much tumult and perhaps “ pogroms”.One of my aunts, Reine, was born in Safi. I’m not sure when they returned to Marrakech but the third child was born back in Marrakech in 1912.
