MEMORY IN ACTION: a very good exampleWhen we read about honoring someone or conmemorating an event, we often think that something is missing in these celebrations, something to project them a step (or two) further. This is why I applaud the initiative of Centro Sefarad-Israel, conmemorating the life of a Spanish righteous gentile, Angel Sanz Briz, born September 28, 1910.He held maximum responsibility at the Spanish Embassy in Budapest in 1944 and, in that short time, he established several protection buildings and issued special documents that saved the lives of more than 5,000 Jewish lives. What is new about this form of memory is that, together with the General Administration Archives (Spain), disseminates the lists of those who were protected in an attempt to find their relatives and collect their personal stories. An excellent example to inspire others to turn memory into action.Do you identify any of the names? https://tinyurl.com/2jrfy48
