YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK THIS LIST Jewish names in Catalonia - Middle AgesBack in 2004, my friend Schelly Talalay Dardashti encouraged me to establish a Jewish Genealogy Society of Catalonia. I started with great enthusiasm and organized a few activities, including a master lecture by Dr. Jeff Malka. The first project was to create a database based on names from archival documents and onomastic indexes in books. It was not easy to find someone to do this task and, as I could not dedicate it much time of my own, the project was put on hold.Lluís Marcó i Dachs (1910-2007), with a degree in pharmacy, writes for the press, poetry and some historical essays. Though not recognized as academic work, his “Catalunya and the Jews” (1984, out of print) is based in all the bibliography available at the time. He honestly states: “I only intend to offer, in a modest way, a description of how the Jews lived in our land during the different periods...”Hopefully an enthusiastic volunteer will continue with this kind of work.In the meantime, see what you can find in these pages of the onomastic index. tinyurl.com/ycx74jjt
