So, a little mystery for all you sleuths out there. You may have seen an earlier post of mine where I said I was researching the Gomes Da Costa family, headed by Abraham and Abigail, who begin turning up in London from around 1725. I was also looking at the Amsterdam Gomes Da Costa family, headed by Abraham and Esther, from an earlier generation, whose four sons married four sister from the Lopes Laguna family. After much digging, I came to the conclusion that the two families were unrelated; or if they were, it was in the distant past. However, I have also found two outliers, who I can't place anywhere. Perhaps someone has come across them? In 1725, Rachel Gomes Da Costa from Braganca married Daniel Albuquerque Da Costa from Lisbon in Amsterdam (see Notice of Marriage attached). He was the widower of Rachel Nunes Da Costa. For his second marriage to Rachel Gomes Da Costa, her witness was her brother Jacob Gomes Da Costa, also presumably from Braganca. Who are Rachel and Jacob? Could they perhaps be related to the GDC family that ended up in London at around the same time? Later, a will for a Daniel Albuquerque Da Costa turns up in 1748 in Jamaica (https://www.jstor.org/stable/43059633?seq=8#metadata_info_tab_contents). Could Rachel and Daniel have gone there after marrying in Amsterdam?
