My Paternal ancestors were Spanish Jewish merchants that ended up in Hispanola(Haiti,Dominican Republic). I didn't know til recently that our original surname was Codges. I cannot find this last name anywhere except in one Louisiana census record in 1910. Beyond this I can't find anything. I am thinking that this might be an variation of my original surname. If anyone had any info that would help i would appreciate it.
