I've posted before about the couple, Daniel Albuquerque da Costa and Rachel Gomes Da Costa, who were married in Amsterdam in 1725. According to the marriage banns, Daniel was from Lisbon and was previously married to Rachel Nunes da Costa. His age is not specified. Rachel Gomes Da Costa was 25 and from Bragança.I have now recovered a will for Daniel, which was lodged in Jamaica in 1748. The will contains no mention of Rachel, implying she must have died by this point. It does, however mention a son, Abraham Albuquerque da Costa, born on 8 February 1727, and a daughter, Rebecca, who by this point was married to a Moses Miranda in Jamaica. No age or year of birth is specified for Rebecca, so it is unclear if her mother was Rachel Nunes da Costa or Rachel Gomes Da Costa. I have seen mentions of Moses Miranda living in the village of Lucea in Hanover parish, Jamaica, in 1754, but after that the trail goes cold. Has anyone come across what might have happened to Abraham Albuquerque da Costa or Moses and Rebecca Miranda? I would also be interested to know more about Rachel Nunes da Costa who was Daniel's first wife. I know the Nunes da Costa were a famous family in Amsterdam, but she might have been from a different branch. When did she die?
