Good morning, Bom dia, Boker Tov!Shabbat Shalom to all!“We praise you, Eternal G-d, sovereign of the Universe, for the wonder we have experienced, we give thanks”“Happy is the person loyal to G-d, who greatly delights in the Eternal One’s commandments! His descendants will be honored in the land, the generations of upright will be blessed.”“His household prospers, and his righteousness endures forever.Light dawns in the darkness for the upright, for the one who is gracious, merciful and just. His mind is firm, trusting in the Eternal One.His heart is steady, he is not afraid. He has been generous, has given freely to the poor, his righteousness endures forever, his life is exalted in honor “Psalm 112This is the text cut into this design.I wanted to create something simple and significant. I created an outline drawing (I cannot do calligraphy but can cut it 🤷‍♀️) of a traditional Shabbat table with an open scroll and then instead of images I filled it with the text. Everything.Always was fascinated by micrography. The Prayer of Thanks.Papercut, cut mostly freehand from a single piece of silkscreened paper.A friend asked how many cuts goes into an artwork.I never thought of it like that...Maybe a thousand? Maybe more.Papercutting is an opposite of drawing. I do not create by adding lines and images but by subtracting spaces in between.Papercutting is more similar to stone carving.Michelangelo reportedly said that he sees an image in a stone and lets it out.Does it requires a different type of thinking?I don’t know...What I do know that by identifying and removing from your mind, your life things that are unimportant, wants that are superfluous you will crystallize the things that are of the outmost value.Things, some are the same to all, like health and being alive and others are more nuanced, more personal...waking up in a comfort of your home, having enough to eat, having your loved ones around you, having enough...We can always want more and often need less.Wishing you all a safe and peaceful weekend 🖖May we all learn to appreciate and be grateful for all the special things in our lives.May we remember those less fortunate.Remember those who lost their lives just because they were Jews and happen to be in a pass of evil!Remember their families!Remember our hostages and their families!May they have something to be thankful for soon! And remember our soldiers, men and women, who are fighting for our right to exist as a nation, for Israel to exist as a country!Remember those who gave up their lives so we can live! And the sacrifice of their families!Shabbat Shalom everyone 🖖✡️#jewishpride #Jewishcommunity #jewishculture #jewishblessing #jewishprayer #jewishhistory #StandWithIsrael #amisraelchai #supportforidf #JewishArt #jewishwisdom #jewishwomen #jewishartist
