Today I received the annual calendar from Aaron Hasson .To my surprise and glee a photo of my Aunt Djoya/Giulia and her little sister Felicina/MazalSciarcon was included.They were both deported.Djoya had the chance to avoid deportation in August of 1944.But being orphans she felt it her duty to protect her siblings. She stayed on Rhodes and went to the camps along with the other siblings.Moris , my father And Lucia who was later interviewed by the Shoa Foundation .My dad was 18 and Mazal was a couple of years older.Felicina/Mazal did not return.My Aunt Djoya was a true Heroine.
