I want to personally thank everyone who helped me out with finding my family heritage. The DNA testing that was done by one of my children. And the research that you wonderful people did and privately messaged me lead me to find my families true Jewish heritage. And I can’t begin to thank you all enough.✨✨✨My family’s journey to the United States began generations ago, with relatives who settled across the early Western frontier — in Seattle and Alpine, Washington; American Fork and Price, Utah; Pueblo and Greeley, Colorado; Crumland Farms, Maryland; Knoxboro, New York; and Boston, Massachusetts. These places tell the story of pioneers, merchants, and farmers — people who sought freedom and purpose in a new land.Though my family’s faith was not recorded in clear lines, traces of Jewish memory and rhythm seem to echo through our path. And is distinctively shown in our DNA. Our ancestry reflects a blend of Northern and Central Europe — with strong roots in Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, and faint but significant threads reaching to Greece — the home of the Rhodesli Sephardim, whose melodies and blessings have always stirred something deeply familiar in me.Jewish heritage lives within my family’s past, that of Ashkenazi Jews from the northern lands, with a gentle Sephardi influence from the Ottoman world — a union of heart and heritage that mirrors the balance I seek in my own practice: intellect joined with warmth, tradition joined with song. Our family’s American story unfolded in regions where Jewish settlers — whether merchants in Utah, farmers in Colorado, or community builders in Seattle — carried forward their faith with quiet strength. In Seattle especially, the Sephardic community from Rhodes and Turkey established one of the earliest Sephardi synagogues in America. It is there that my soul seems to recognize its reflection, as if the melodies of Rhodes and the prayers of my ancestors met once again along the shores of Puget Sound. This is why I continue to study and prepare myself for conversion to Judaism, I do so to honor what my heart remembers.I am preserving the Sephardic–Castilian and Ottoman spirit that resonates within me — the modest grace of my foremothers, the steadfast courage of my forefathers, and the luminous faith that ties them both together. This journey is my offering:to reconnect the threads of a story half-remembered,to live as a Jew in both deed and devotion, and to pass forward the light of my ancestors — wherever their path began, and wherever mine continues.
