These photos are fading as we speak and any help to darken them up will be gratefully accepted.They are from my dad's (Isaac Alec Amato) barmitzvah in 1944 in what was then Salisbury Rhodesia.In the first photo, my dad is behind his cake and he is flanked by his parents, Sarina and Alberto. Granny Rica Amato is next to Alberto holding the baby and Joyce Amato is sitting next to Granny Rica.Rica Eagle, nee Merdjan is behind Joyce. I recognise my great uncle Joe Merdjan and Diana Merdjan, nee Amato behind Granny Rica and my great uncle Netanel Menasce is behind Alec. Anyone recognise anyone else? The second photo has the same suspects but I recognize Uncle Nick (Nessie) Amato, my Papou's youngest brother at the extreme right. My Papou arrived in Gatooma in 1921 with his friend Yedid Charhon ready to make a new life for himself. He subsequently sent for his sisters, Rachel and Diana to join him.
