Does anyone know of any articles on the life and times of the Jewish communities in the various countries in western Europe. Was western Europe better for the Jewish communities than the east?. I know that English Jews were money lenders / bankers in early England. Would they have been the same as well as traders and merchants in Europe?.

Both my wife & I have recently completed autosomal AncestryDNA tests and uploaded the data to GEDmatch. My wife is 50% Sephardic & 50% French. I, on the other hand, am 50% Ashkenazi & 50% British though I must add my research suggests that my patrilineal line is Sephardic in origin.Can anyone advise us which analysis would be the most helpful.
