Irma Lopes Cardozo-Robles de Medina 1924-2016In 2008, I was introduced to Mrs. Cardozo-Robles de Medina by R’Ira Rodhes. I had just moved to New Jersey and wanted to connect with the Spanish-Portuguese community in New York. I remember that Shabbath in September when I met her. R’Rodhes told her that I was a fellow Sepharadi with roots in Curação. She was elated to know that I was active on behalf...

Davis, Darnell. Notes on the History of the Jews of Barbados. “…I presume, from Holland, when our trade in a manner centered there, and I have always unerstood that the bulk of them were of Portuguese origin; which is the highest order among them; and who in London, neither unite in the same synagogue or burial grounds; here, however, they must coalesce, from paucity of numbers” (Davis 129).

I'm searching for records on Ana DaCosta (Gomes) who migrated from Curação in the early 1800s to Hispaniola (modern-day Dominican Republic). The records in D.R. say that she came from Curação and was married to Agustín Correia. Anybody have anything at hand on this person? Perhaps from Precious Stones of the Jews of Curação.
