Find out in my guest lecture at the Harvard Music Building on January 17th at 10:30 for the class "Music Revival, Sonic Archaeology, and How We Hear The Past." We will explore ways in which modern music has appropriated other world musics, focusing on the incorporation of Middle Eastern idioms and Sephardic ...

Hi, I've seen several online posts about King Henry VIII and his interest in Jewish (Venetian) opinions concerning his marriage to Catherine of Aragon and Yibum. I'd prefer some more authoritative sources about the episode. I've seen a reference to David Katz's history of the Jews of England. Any others? (I've seen Edgar Samuel's piece about the origins of the Westminster Talmud - not Henry VIII)....

I hope this is okay if not please delete. Where do I start. My mother was born in London in 1927. Her maiden name was Rogers. Obviously changed many years before from Rodriguez though I don't know if that's the correct spelling. She was married in Bevis Marks though my father wasn't sephardic. Any help where to begin is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

FERNANDO de MONTESIONOS In response to a post by Jeremy Bliss about the family Montesinos I post here the declaration of Samuel Aboab aka Francesco Domingo de Guzman before the Spanish Inquisition (Liber 1127) about Fernando de Montesinos. It is a remarkable declaration for lots of reasons. It describes the glorious coming of the dead body of Fernando from Antwerp to Amsterdam in a bronze casket. ...
