Is anyone familiar with the surname Aboas? The name is mentioned as the alias of the father on this burial card from Amsterdam but I can't seem to find mention of this name elsewhere. Is it possible that it is a typo and is actually Aboab?
Hi everyone, I’m still exploring my De Pinna line and I’ve fortunately been able to identify a few additional generations, but I’ve found something confusing that I would love some input on. My 6x Great Grandfather was David Sarfaty De Pinna who married Flora Botibol in 1779 in London (per Bevis Mark’s records). Unfortunately, I can’t find any other details about David’s life - and strangely, his ...
Hi everyone, I was lucky enough to have a small breakthrough the other day when a second cousin shared a document written by my 2x great uncle about one of the Sephardic branches of my family (I’m sharing the document here - it was started in 1917, although additional details were clearly added later). I had previously traced this branch of the family as far back as David De Pinna, my 4x great gra...

Her father was (Western) Sephardic, but I'm not sure of her mother's background, and her husband ...
Hi all, I'm still trying to research the De Pinna part of my family tree and one challenge I'm facing is that I have yet to be able to take the family farther back than London in the early 1800s. The most distant ancestor I know of is my 4x great grandfather, David de Pinna, born in England around 1810. I'm fairly confident that the family was in Amsterdam before London, but I can't find the link!...
Hello all, I am researching part of my family - the De Pinna family of London. I recently gained access to some of the Bevis Mark's records and was confused to find that two of my 3x great uncles are listed in their marriage records as "Proselytes" (I've included one of these records below). I'm confused by this because De Pinna is a Sephardic Jewish name (confirmed in many locations), and their m...
