This is a link to a 1990 dissertation entitled " THE FELLOWSHIP FELLOWSHIP OF ST DIOGO, New Christian judaisers in Coimbra in the early 17th century." Page 301 starts more than 20 pages of genealogical tables. http://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/502/1/uk_bl_ethos_414327.pdf
I’ve been spending quite a bit of time looking through the Dotar records for the Portuguese Jewish Community of Amsterdam. I thought I would share some sample documents that will hopefully be helpful or interesting to some of you here. Although lard on the eyes, taking a look at the records is worthwhile. Sorry for the lengthy post! You can find the records on the Amsterdam Municipal Archives we...
If someone posted these links to these Auto de Fe lists from the 1720's before, my apologies. I came across them tonight on google books.https://books.google.com/books?id=gZReAAAAcAAJ&pg=PP4&dq=%22Relacion+del+Auto+particular+de+f%C3%A8,+que+celebr%C3%B2+el+Santo+Oficio%22%22&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjCt6fMicbdAhVQtlkKHZnQDRg4ChDoAQgtMAE#v=onepage&q=%22Relacion%20del%20Auto%20particular%20de%20f%C3%...
Hello everyone. I have attached a copy of, and a link to, a ketubah for Samuel de Jacob Touro and Roza Nunes de Almeida. I was hoping that someone could let me know what genealogical information may be contained in the document. In particular, I am looking for the name of Roza’s father. For whatever it is worth, a Dotar member, Mordechay Nunes de Almeida, shows up as a second degree relative (...
The SANTA COMPANHIA THE DOTAR ORFAS E DONZELAS in Amsterdam has been discussed here on a number of occasions. I have been reviewing the sets of petitions of hopeful lottery participants and came across the attached. PJC Inventory Nr. 334/1156A, p 109. I thought it might be of interest a member of the group. You can see a somewhat faint family tree (the Penso family I think) offered by a petiti...

I have attached a "dispatch contract" from Amsterdam for Jeudah Delmonte. I cannot make out the handwritten text at the bottom. Could someone help me with the language. Thanks. This is the link: https://archief.amsterdam/inventarissen/inventaris/334.nl.html#KLAC02414000063
Good afternoon. I have posted an Amsterdam ketubah for Jacob de Abraham Garcia de los Reyes and Sara de Isaac Robles, dated in 1761, I believe. This is the link: https://archief.amsterdam/inventarissen/inventaris/334.nl.html#PIGA00160000123I would very much appreciate if someone could let me know if there is anything of genealogical interest here. Thanks in advance!
I thought I would post this link to a Port. Jew. Comm. dossier that google translates as "Copybook of outgoing pieces by Isaac Orobio de Castro" It is found at no. 874 A number of families of interest here are discussed in this book. For example, this link is to some sort of discussion concerning Abraham Baruch Louzoda from 1752 (lower right quadrant).https://archief.amsterdam/inventarissen/inv...
I’m not sure I have seen this family tree posted here before. I saw it in the Amsterdam PJC files entitled “Attestaties van geboorte, huwelijk en overlijden, ingekomen ten behoeve van lidmaten” It is image 152 from inventory number 502. I think it relates to the Nunes Carvalho family, but I am not sure. Looks Italian. I know the family has been the subject of discussion here
Good evening everyone. I have a favor to ask. I have attached three documents for a Jeuda de Selomo Delmonte. I am pretty sure they are for the same person, but ... The documents: #1 is a marriage intention from 1766 found here https://archief.amsterdam/indexen/ondertrouwregisters_1565-1811/zoek/query.nl.pl?i1=1&a1=delmonte&x=20&z=b#OTR00236000107#2 is “dispatch” contract found here https://ar...
Tirtsah Levie Bernfeld today posted an excellent article to academia.edu: Exit Amsterdam: Poor Portuguese and Carribean Horizons in M Studemund-Halevy ( ed.) , A Sefardic Pepper-Pot in the Caribbean. History, Language, Literature and Art ( Barcelona, 2016), pp. 210-229).
Thought this link might be of interest to some in the group.
Hello everyone. I have the same questions as David Rivera did a few hours ago. This is the 1735 ketubah for Isaac Robles and Rachel Alvares Correa, who I believe are ancestors of at least a few members here. It is taken from Inv. 393, image 45, of the Portuguese Jewish Community of Amsterdam. I would appreciate any genealogical information or references to a notary. Thanks!
Hello everyone. I’m new to the group so I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this before. I recently found that Brandeis University has an open source Institutional Repository that may be of interest. This is the link:http://bir.brandeis.edu/For example, it appears that the repository has a collection of account books for the Jewish Community of Venice and a pdf copy of JR Lieberman’s Shephard...
Good evening. Thanks so much for admitting me to this group. Just finding out that the PIG records are available from the Amsterdam Archives free of charge is a great benefit. Hopefully I will be able to assist other members from time to time. I was hoping that someone might be able to assist me with this image, taken from the collection of Dotar society records in Amsterdam. From what I can t...
