To cook or not to cook the haroseth? That is the question.

Okay, so let's talk about the Torah service on Tisha b'Ab. Somehow I managed to miss or just plain forget the whole part where the hazan approaches, says a passage, then comes out from the middle, says another passage and then comes out the other side with the sefer. The whole part in the middle just wowed me. What a powerful moment! Does everyone do this?

Corrected. There's still no nusah page for us. This synagogue was listed as using Nusach Sefard.

Which region where S&P Jews live, have lived, or originated from has the best haroseth recipe? I will add more locations, but you can add them as well.

Is Curaçaoan haroseth always super sweet? I would love to try my hand at a recipe, but it looks prohibitively sweet.

Do we really need to tell people in 5785 that no Jew past or present should ever be called "marrano"? It is not a historical group of people, "the marranos". That word is a slur which is largely anachronistic, popularized by historian Heinrich Geaetz. It means swine, pig. No group ever historically identified as such. It was rarely used during the time of the inquisition, and only by the side of t...

Is Talled di Seta the only current fabricator of WS prayer shawls? I am looking for someone that can accept or acquire alternative raw materials not created from wool or by boiling larvae alive.

What are some literary sources about women's tefillah in Sepharad? I remember reading many years ago about this, but cannot find the material now, as often happens. What I remember is the basics: there were early morning services of just women, held in synagogues with a hazanit leading services. Some of the women opted for prayer shawls and afterwards the women would come home and wake up the men ...

Aside from the obvious topics we've discussed multiple times over like yihud, and bedeken, or even standing, what wedding customs are still being done, but dying out; being imported from other communities, or have already largely been imported? What is different between us and other Sepharadic communities? I saw video clips of a beautiful Ashkenazi wedding, in which a well known rabbi officiated a...

Is anyone getting really good, thin, flexible soft massoth in New York this year for less than $5M an ounce? I need something that really folds and is quite edible, not thick, mealy or cracking when bent.

This may seem like a silly question, but I'll ask anyway: for people who live a good distance away from the closest esnoga, what are any changes in observance of nahala? For example, lighting a candle at home, etc.

This essay touches on various things I've been discussing recently in Abraham's Tent, however one thing it also touches on which has come up recently is amulets. I'm very curious what people think about how geographical, cultural and historical context play into the hashkafic persuasion of our sorts of Jews in comparison to others? In other words, are we more or less likely to put any stock whatso...

Is there a text for a prayer for the IDF according to our rite? I haven't seen it in the prayer books but I imagine it exists. I don't recall specifically what is said in the esnoga here in New York.

ANSWERED: - Koren Sepharad = SefardHave you seen the Koren siddurim and mahzorim that say Nusach Sepharad? How do they differ from the ones labeled Sepharadim - Edut Hamizrach? I have more opportunities to pray with mizrachi communities than with ours on holidays (due primarily to lack of places to stay, but also the price of seats on HHD [no, I don't need advice on obtaining seats, please!]) I wa...
