An account of a Yom Kippur service in Madrid in 1886 in the house of a French banker named Salzedo, entirely in French, and three synagogues in Lisbon.
The Versaille synagogue was originally Ashkenazi, now houses a Moroccan community. But it was fostered and financed by Cécile Furtado, granddaughter of Rabbi Joseph Furtado of Bayonne, and widow of banker Charles Heine.

There is a dutch Ashkenazzi family by the name of De Marcas. Even though it seems to "sound Sephardic" I have not come across it among the Portuguese. Does anyone know what the origin is?
In 1955, D.A. Jessurun Cardozo of Amsterdam was rabbi of a Sephardic congregation in New Jersey. Does anyone know which congregation this was and whether it was S&P?
