***A Nação Hebraica*** **unlocks the earliest treasures of the London Sephardic community**Among the few manuscript sources to have survived between the Resettlement in 1656 and the erection of Bevis Marks in 1701 are the Annual Account Books. Bevis Marks’ legendary Haham and historian, Moses Gaster (1856-1939), remarked that if he hadn’t been limited by his work, he would print excerpts of the An...

In Bevis Marks Annual Accounts 5452 page 71 of 122 there are two offerings made by Moseh Silveira. The first appears to be an offering with respect to a synagogue honor but I cannot decipher the second. Can anyone in the Group confirm the first, explain the second, and identify the dates when they were made?
Bevis Marks Records IV Lookup request: The nearest library copy is 100 miles away! Does anyone in the Group have a copy of “The Circumcision register of Isaac and Abraham de Paiba (1715-1775) together with a supplement including a record of circumcisions 1679-99, marriages 1679-89 and some female births 1679-99”? We learned from the Sephardic World presentation by Ton Tielen on 10 October that Bevis Marks accounts records haven been scanned and are in The National Library of Israel. Despite several attempts I have been unable to download the Annual accounts: 5436 to 5438. Has anyone been able to retrieve a copy and if so would they share it?
I recall reading an archive listing the compensation given to Jewish families returning to Amsterdam for losses in Recife when it was captured by Portugal. I am hoping that someone in this Group can point me to the document.
In Jamaica, my grandmother made "Pinda Rings" for Pesah from peanuts (ground), sugar, cinnamon, matzah meal and eggs. Is this a Sephardic recipe, or even a traditional Jewish recipe? Just made these, they are rather moorish!
The design of the new unified search and non-Flash-based viewing and paging of the new Amsterdam Archives website is to be highly commended!Using this facility, I have identified two 1686 Notarial Deeds with the name Jacob Rodrigues de Leon and found the first scan at pages 135-136 per the attached.May I impose on someone in the Group to review this deed and briefly explain what it is all about?
I am planning to be in Amsterdam and attend services in the Esnoga on Shabbat Sukkot VI (CH''M) on 19 October, 2019. Will the service be conducted in the main synagogue or the winter synagogue?
Amsterdam, Despacho 5428 (1668), Jahacob Rodrigues de Leao is the 13th name in list. Is it possible to identify where Jacob was sent? Is it possible that he is the Jacob Rodrigues de Leon who is buried in Hunts Bay Cemetery, Kingston Jamaica? The Jacob Rodrigues de Leon who died in Jamaica wrote his will in Spanish on 5/11/1702. His Testators were, Daniel Abouh Cardoso, Jacob Lopez Forres, Jacob Al...
This Group has been helpful in assisting in my search for the origin of my 7th Grandfather, Moses Athias da Silveira, a Portuguese merchant who traveled to Jamaica before 1684 and died there in 1698. He wrote his Will in Portuguese. I would like to start a parallel search for the origins of other new immigrant relatives and close associates in the belief that I might find documents linking them to...
Bevis Marks Records Part II, Ketubot through 1837. I am told that there is a listing for my 3G Grandparents Ketubah #1426, Abraham de Aaron Silvera and Sarah de Daniel Brandon, dated 11 Kislev 5566 / 2 Dec 1805. Would someone with access to this volume be able to look-up and let me know if there is any other information about the Ketubah?

My 6th great-grandfather who died in 1698 in Spanish Town, Jamaica, left a will written in Portuguese. Many years later, the will was transcribed by the British colonial government and typed. The typed version that has survived, has transcription errors.Would a researcher in 17th century Portuguese language be able to review the transcribed document, and suggest corrections to the transcription er...
Daniel Lopez Laguna's Will probated in 1723 identifies his wife and three minor sons (under 21 years). In addition, his sister Rachel, blind and an orphan, living in "Bayona", and cousins. His witnesses were Moses Gutierez and Isaac Rodrigues deLeon. Daniel asked to be buried in Kingston, but it seems that a confirming burial record is missing. It is interesting to note that Daniel Lopez Laguna wa...
